Qatar is fast becoming a favourite destination for visitors and tourists alike. And Hamad International Airport continues to make its mark on redefining the airport experience for its millions of travellers.  During the summer peak season, Qatar’s aviation hub focused its efforts on making travel as dynamic, interactive and entertaining as possible, having partnered with Qatar National Tourism Council, Qatar Airways, and Qatar Duty Free to deliver the biggest ‘Summer in Qatar’ programme yet.

With the second quarter of 2019 being the busiest period for the airport, HIA effectively demonstrated its ability to not only continue its smooth and seamless airport operations during the peak season in July and August, but also curate entertaining initiatives that has witnessed footfall of more than seven million passengers traveling through the airport and take part in HIA’s ‘Summer in Qatar’ activities. The airport showcased its commitment to celebrating Qatari culture while also catering to the millions of passengers from diverse backgrounds, reinforcing the airport’s passenger-centric strategy that puts the passenger at the heart of HIA’s operations.

Hamad International Airport has always been at the forefront in setting the standard for modern day airport experience ever since its launch in May 2014. Stepping up this experience, Qatar’s aviation hub launched the second phase of its innovative Smart Airport program recently.  HIA has also started the second phase of its terminal expansion plans to accommodate 53 million passengers annually at the airport by 2022. HIA received “Best Airport for Passenger Experience” ranking from AirHelp, the world’s leading air passenger rights specialist, for the second consecutive year.

Engr. Badr Mohammed Al Meer, Chief Operating Officer at HIA, commenting on the success of HIA’s ‘Summer in Qatar’ programme, said: “We are extremely proud of the efforts and success witnessed during our programme. For many, airports are associated with stress and pressure to be on time, check in, and board the flight. However, HIA continuously strives for efficient and hassle-free travel, particularly through our Smart Airport program. Therefore, we are able to process passengers smoothly and enable an entertaining airport experience like no other. We will continue to put HIA on the map as an airport with passenger experience like none other, while shining a light on Qatar as the preferred tourism destination with world-class experiences.”

It must be mentioned that this year’s ‘Summer in Qatar’ programme at HIA stems from QNTC’s full-fledged tourism campaign that works with local stakeholders to bring an array of exciting new products and activities to provide year-long tourism offerings to communities of all backgrounds, cultures, ages, interests and budgets.

HIA looks forward to welcoming a rising number of travellers aboard Qatar’s state-of-the-art facility to experience a unique passenger journey into the world of the arts, culture and hospitality.
