The member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) have again stressed the need of bringing the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip to an end. The Ministerial Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has also hailed the strenuous efforts undertaken by Qatar, in close coordination with its mediation partners, mainly Egypt and the USA, to broker a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, secure the release of hostages, and ensure the unfettered entry of life-saving humanitarian aid.
The Ministerial Council has also called for an immediate end to the Israeli-imposed blockade, the full opening of all border crossings to facilitate the unhindered entry of humanitarian and relief aid, as well as essential supplies, and the guaranteed, uninterrupted delivery of these necessities to the civilian population across the Strip.
The ASEAN-GCC-China Summit, held recently in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, had also commended Qatar’s mediation efforts to forge a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip while expressing its condemnation of all attacks against the Palestinian people. The Summit had also called for an enduring ceasefire and for facilitating the unhindered access of life-saving humanitarian aid and essential services to the Strip.
Qatar and Egypt had announced on Sunday that they are continuing their intensive efforts to bridge gaps and overcome points of contention to reach a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, based on the proposal presented by US Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff. The proposal aims to resume indirect negotiations on that basis.
In a joint statement, Qatar and Egypt had affirmed their intent - in coordination with the United States of America - to intensify efforts to resolve the obstacles facing the negotiation process. Both countries called on all parties to act responsibly and support the mediators’ efforts to end the crisis in Gaza Strip and restore stability and calm to the region.
The GCC Ministerial Council yesterday also condemned the announcement by the Israeli occupation authorities regarding the establishment of an agency aimed at forcibly displacing Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, affirming its unequivocal support for the resilience of the Palestinian people on their territories.
The State of Qatar participated in the regular and consultative meetings of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Ministerial Council, within the 164th session, held in the State of Kuwait. Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani chaired the State of Qatar’s delegation to the two meetings.
It firmly rejected all attempts to depopulate Gaza and underscored the imperative of respecting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on their own soil, while warning against any destabilizing actions that seek to undermine their inalienable rights.
In addition, the Council held the Israeli occupation fully accountable for its persistent violations and brutal assaults on the Gaza Strip, which have resulted in the martyrdom of tens of thousands of civilians, mostly women and children, acts that constitute war crimes and crimes against humanity under international humanitarian law.
