With the outbreak of COVID-19 when the confirmed cases in the State of Qatar reached three in early days of March and the cases found to be among people came from abroad, the government started taking health precautionary measures.
Measures included quarantine, temporary travel ban over fears of the spread of the deadly coronavirus. In light of the virus spread and along the number of confirmed cases, temporary health measures were imposed gradually reaching to the level of suspending all government and private institutions, businesses and all different activities to ensure social distancing for public health safety.
In line with the preventive measures, Dar Al Sharq Group decided to stop printing all its publications including The Peninsula, Al Sharq and Lusail newspapers and other foreign publications.
Although it is not yet confirmed about the end of COVID-19 outbreak but as the health authorities’ reports indicate that the State of Qatar has reached the peak of the curve, and cases declined significantly from around 2,000 confirmed cases to over 500 and recoveries are three fold of new cases.
Thus, the government started to ease measures taken to contain the spread of COVID-19, and the Cabinet is gradually relaxing the health measures and restrictions imposed on public places and shopping centres.
