Doha, Qatar: Various kinds of narcotic substances were seized from passengers arriving in Qatar through the Abu Samra border.

The substances were found after inspection of the passengers' personal bags and few others were hidden within their body.

Inside the bags, the Land Customs administration found 11 narcotic Lyrica pills.

Authorities further searched the passengers and found approximately 121 grams of hashish as well as 45 different types of narcotic pills.

"45 narcotic pills of various types were found hidden discreetly in dispersed locations within their bodies," said Customs in a statement.

Customs also recently prevented a smuggling attempt, in which Lyrica pills were found stuffed inside an air conditioner. A total of 1,200 Lyrica pills were seized at the time.

The Customs Department has been warning against bringing illegal goods into the country. They are equipped with all means of support including the latest devices and continuous training to read the body language of passengers and to be aware of the latest methods followed by smugglers.
