Doha: Viewers will be able to watch the inspirational Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development documentary From Kathmandu to Qatar Foundation at 11:30pm on Al Jazeera Sports One channel today.

The documentary traces the incredible journey of young FC Barcelona fan, Aayush Karki, as he travels on the trip of his lifetime from the Nepalese capital of Kathmandu to Camp Nou stadium in Barcelona.

In December 2010, Aayush was nearing the end of his high school studies when he heard about Qatar Foundation’s partnership with FC Barcelona — an announcement that proved to be life-changing for the young man. It became his dream to earn a place to study at the prestigious Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q).

As a gifted student who excelled at school, Aayush’s biggest dream has come true. He is now studying Computer Science at CMU-Q, one of eight elite international universities with branch campuses at Qatar Foundation.

The film relays the life of the 20-year-old model student as he navigates through the tense period of study in advance of his end-of-year exams, before a dramatic conclusion sees Aayush go on an amazing journey to watch his heroes play before 90,000 fervent fans at Camp Nou. For Aayush, a visit to Barcelona to watch his favourite football team in action represented the fulfilment of a long-held ambition.

The documentary, which was filmed in Kathmandu, Doha, and Barcelona, will motivate young viewers to pursue their dreams no matter how unbelievable they may seem.

Reflecting on the many ways in which his life has been transformed over recent years, Aayush says, “It still feels like a dream, a privilege, and an opportunity at the same time.” Yet a single word also vividly sums up his unique experience — “amazing.”

Aayush Karki is the first H E Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Thani Scholarship recipient at Carnegie Mellon Qatar.

The film will also be broadcast on Zee TV Middle East next week.

The first episode will air on August 3 at 7pm Doha time. The documentary will air once again on August 5 at 12pm; August 8 at 12:30pm; and August 9 at 7pm.
