‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations launched in Qatar

Doha: India’s 75th Anniversary of Independence celebrations were kicked-off in Qatar with a wide range of programmes. 75-week long celebrations collectively named by the government of India as ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ was officially launched in Qatar by Embassy of India in association with Indian Cultural Centre (ICC). 

Respecting covid protocol, the ceremony was limited to Embassy high rank officials and ICC Management Committee members. Chief Guest Dr Deepak Mittal, Ambassador of India, inaugurated the ceremony by lighting the traditional lamp followed by tree planting within the premises of Indian Cultural Centre. 

As part of the celebration 75 people were given free ICBF Life Insurance and the fund was handed over to ICBF officials by ICC. Ceremony was followed by a virtual event where Chief Guest Khalid Bin Ibrahim Al Hamar, Director of Asian Affairs Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Indian Ambassador addressed the gathering.

As part of the Inaugural function ICC streamed various cultural programmes in association with ICC affiliated organizations that showcased the rich culture, heritage and festivals of India.
