Doha: Olympian Rashid Saleh Hamad and promising Qatari shooter Reem Al Sharshani teamed up to clinch gold medal at mixed skeet team event that wrapped up the 2020 Amir Cup Shooting and Archery Championships at Losail Shooting Range.       

The duo was in top form as they overcame a pair of Saeed Abu Sharb and Amal Ahmed, who settled for a silver medal, with Masoud Saleh and Hajer Mohammed securing bronze medal in the event. 

Over 100 male and female shooters participated in the Amir Cup, which brought back shooting action after a long break due to coronavirus.   

Rashid, who also won skeet silver earlier in the event, praised Qatar Shooting and Archery Association for their effort in organising the sport’s popular competition of the country in time of COVID-19.     

“We thank our association to host this event, which will help us in preparing for the season ahead,” said Rashid. 

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Organising Committee, Secretary General, Majid Al Nuaimi lauded shooters for showing full commitment despite the challenges.   

“It was a successful event. The shooters showcased top quality and hardwork despite the challenges. They showed a lot of commitment,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Taher, Executive Director praised the great efforts made by the committees working in the tournament and their continuous cooperation for the success of the event.
