The official mascot for the 24th Arabian Gulf Cup, ‘Sodeifi’ and the tournament trophy are seen with Qatar Football Association (QFA) officials and fans during a promotional event held at the QFA headquarters yesterday. The mascot is an oyster holding a pearl called ‘Sodeifi’, the Arabic word for ‘shell’ and features the colours of the Qatari flag, paying homage to the country’s seafaring and pearl diving past. The tournament will be played in Doha from November 24 to December 6, with Qatar taking on Yemen on the opening day.
