DOHA: The north and southern parts of the country received scattered rains yesterday accompanied by strong winds. The Meteorology Department has forecast more rains today.
“We have received reports about rain in some parts of the north in the morning and in the south in the afternoon hours,” a source from the Department said last evening, without giving further details.
Many residents of Al Khor yesterday posted pictures of rain from the area on social networking sites. There were also unconfirmed reports about a hailstorm in the area.
The country experienced strong winds in the earlier part of the day, while a brief dust storm lashed the city at around 10am. However, the dust was cleared very soon as the wind speed returned to normal levels.
The Met office has forecast more rains and dust winds in some part of the country today. Visibility is expected to dip below 2,000 metres or less.
The Department has forecast thunderstorms both inshore and offshore with the Northwesterly to Northeasterly winds blowing at speeds reaching a maximum 25 knots to 35 knots.
Temperature is expected to dip slightly, hovering between 26 degrees Celsius and 32 degrees Celsius inside the city.
