Pittsburgh: The St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates were rained out of a key Major League Baseball game Tuesday, leaving the National League Central division crown undecided for at least one more night.
The Cardinals, 99-58, and Pirates, 95-62, own the best records in all of Major League Baseball with only five games remaining in the regular season.
But one of them will have to settle for second place in the NL Central and enter the playoffs as a wildcard team, forced to win a one-game playoff against another NL Central wildcard club, the Chicago Cubs, before reaching a best-of-five series against a division winner.
Tuesday's scheduled game will be made up as part of a double-header on Wednesday.
The Cardinals need only one victory over Pittsburgh to clinch the division crown while the Pirates must win both games over St. Louis to sustain their chance at the division title.
