Doha: Qatari and resident artists from different art backgrounds have been competing to show love to the country and stress loyalty to HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani through their art works in a three-day event at Gulf Mall.
The event attracted crowds to witness moments of creativity to produce art works that document the current times and show how everyone are coming together behind the wise leadership of HH the Emir.
Speaking to QNA, poet and artist Radi Al Hajri said the event aimed to express "joy through an actual interpretation of belonging to the homeland and love for HH the Emir."
He added that the event started through personal initiatives from artists and was backed by government entities, including the Ministry of Culture and Sports that decided to organize a gallery for the nearly 20 art works. Qatar Tourism Authority also supported the event.
Fine artist Mariam Al Mulla said her art work that participates in the gallery expresses the Qatari people's love for their country, adding that the use of pure gold leaves is indicative of the sacrifices that Qataris are willing to exert for the homeland and HH the Emir.
Meanwhile, artist Sheikha Al Kuwari painted a drawing for HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser and said the painting is an expression of her love, adding that it features a dove to show the peace that she has in her heart for the world as a gift from a Qatari artist.
A Thai artists participated with a painting about Doha skyscrapers with cars bearing slogans supporting HH the Emir. He said he wanted to show Doha beauty, especially Al Dafna area.
In turn, a participant Indian artist drew a colored painting for HH the Emir, saying that it is an expression of his love for Qatar. A fellow Indian artist said she participated with an art work about a Qatari knight carrying the flag as if he conquers difficulties to reach the path of glory.
Sudanese artist Fatima Ibrahim, a student at the Sudanese school, participated in the event with a monochrome painting for HH the Emir, saying that it expresses "the love and appreciation of the Sudanese people to the State of Qatar and its leadership" and shows "solidarity against the unjust siege by some countries."
