About 69 percent of Filipinos closely followed the news about the boxing match between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, Jr. this coming Sunday, making it the third most followed story among a list of 13 news events tested, according to the Social Weather Stations (SWS).
SWS conducted the first quarter survey from March 20-23, 2015 using face-to-face interviews of 1,200 adults nationwide.
SWS said the top two spots were the news on Pope Francis’ visit to the Philippines and the clash in Mamasapano.
About 79 percent of Filipinos closely followed the news on Pope Francis’ visit last January 15-19, 2015 while 70 percent followed the news on the clash in Mamasapano, Maguindanao on January 25, 2015 between the Special Action Force (SAF) of the Philippine National Police and members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF).
