Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q) and its Al Liwan Qatari Student Club will host a lecture by H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Saud Al Thani (pictured), Chairman of Ooredoo, as part of a series of events to commemorate Qatar National Day.
The talk, which is open to the public, will be held under the theme of ‘Ingredients of Qatar’s Success Under the Blockade.’ It will take place at 6pm today at the campus in Education City.
“H E Sheikh Abdullah has extensive experience in leading businesses in Qatar and insight into the steps being taken to diversify the country’s economy,” said GU-Q Dean, Ahmad Dallal.
Al Thani is Minister of State, Chairman of Ooredoo, and the Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Investment Authority, where he oversees and manages the government of Qatar’s investment funds in international and domestic markets. He was instrumental in the restructuring and regional expansion of Ooredoo since the launch of its growth strategy in 2005, steering Ooredoo from a single-nation telecom operator to a group with a presence in 17 countries spanning North Africa, ME, & Southeast Asia.
