TRIPOLI: A group of ten gunmen attacked a central bank van in Libya's western city of Sirte and fled with around US $55 million or 53 million Libyan dinars.

According to a Libyan news agency report, citing a source from the Central Bank of Libya, ten gunmen armed with light and medium weapons intercepted the van carrying the money at a crossroads in the western region near the airport.

The local branch of Central Bank of Libya in Sirte said "the van was transporting 53 Million Libyan dinars or around US $43.1 million and around $12 million foreign currencies in euros and dollars."
