DOHA: Around 35,000 visitors came to witness a variety of colourful events at the Ecuador Cultural Festival which concluded on Saturday in Katara.
Organised by Katara Cultural Village Foundation along with the Ecuador Embassy and Qatar Tourism Authority, the five-day event celebrated a rich variety of unique and vibrant activities including folklore, music, ballet, carnival parade, cinema, graphic arts, food, sculpture and handicraft among others.
Speaking on the success of the festival, Katara General Manager, Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, said the event is one of forums hosted by Katara to contribute to productive cultural dialogue, building bridges of cultural communication between nations and peoples.
Ecuador Ambassador Kablan Abisaab expressed his gratitude of the sponsorship of the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the Father Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani of the festival.
“It is not uncommon for Qatar and Katara to sponsor cultural and artistic works, transforming this good land to the crossroads of civilizations, cultures and arts.
Many visitors who attended the Festival expressed their admiration of the events presented for the first time in Qatar and the Arab world. They said the event celebrated Latin American culture, the prominent components of Ecuadorian society and the real image of cultural diversity and exchange of knowledge and openness to one another.
