Doha, Qatar: Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani inaugurated yesterday the 22nd edition of the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition (DJWE) at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre.

The opening ceremony was attended by Minister of Interior H E Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, along with several ministers, ambassadors and other distinguished guests.

Owned by Qatar Tourism, brought by Visit Qatar and organised by Qatar Business Events Corporation (QBEC), the week-long exhibition brings together 49 exhibitors representing more than 500 brands from 30 countries, offering visitors an extensive showcase of fine jewellery, exceptional timepieces and contemporary designs.

Chairman of Qatar Tourism and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Visit Qatar H E Saad bin Ali Al Kharji and CEO of Visit Qatar Eng. Abdulaziz Ali Al Mawlawi also attended the inauguration.

Following the opening, the Prime Minister toured the exhibition, viewing prominent collections presented by Qatari and international companies, including the latest jewellery and watch designs and a selection of rare gemstones.

Al Kharji said the exhibition had evolved over more than two decades in line with Qatar’s ambitions, establishing itself as an international platform for an industry rooted in heritage, creativity and excellence.

He said the 22nd edition reflected the stature achieved by DJWE through international expertise, regional participation and Qatari creativity, while creating opportunities for business, knowledge exchange and partnerships.

Al Kharji added that Qatar Tourism was focused on developing distinctive, high-value tourism experiences that draw on the country’s strengths and generate sustainable economic impact. He noted that DJWE strengthens Doha’s position as a destination for specialised international events while providing Qatari designers and entrepreneurs with opportunities to connect with international markets.

Eng. Al Mawlawi said the exhibition continued to expand in scale, diversity and international presence, reinforcing its position as one of Qatar’s leading annual events and a major meeting point for the regional and global jewellery and watch industry.

He said this year’s edition builds on previous achievements by expanding international participation, introducing new platforms for knowledge exchange and offering visitors opportunities to discover the craftsmanship and stories behind exceptional jewellery and watches.

Leading regional names participating in the exhibition include Al Fardan Jewellery, Al Majed Jewellery, Ali Bin Ali Luxury, Amiri Gems, Fifty-One East, Al Muftah Jewellery, Blue Salon and Arts and Gems, alongside international houses and established and emerging Qatari designers.

The exhibition also features the return of the Turkish, Indian and Qatari Designers pavilions. The Turkish Pavilion features two brands, while the Indian Pavilion brings together five brands showcasing the distinctive craftsmanship and design traditions of their markets.

The Qatari Designers Pavilion, sponsored by Scale7, highlights six local talents, Midad Jewellery, M Royal Collection, Kaltham’s Pavilion, H Jewelry, Ghand Jewellery and Alghla Jewellery, placing Qatari creativity at the heart of the exhibition.

A major addition to this year’s edition is the participation of Christie’s, the international auction house with a 260-year heritage in art, luxury and collectibles. Its specialists will contribute to talks, guided experiences and educational sessions through the newly launched DJWE Studio.

Throughout the week, the Studio will host workshops, panel discussions and masterclasses covering jewellery and watch markets, design trends and collecting. The programme also includes guided tours, mentorship opportunities and certificate courses exploring the relationship between art, jewellery and watches.

Qatar Development Bank, through Scale7, will conduct a five-part entrepreneurship series focusing on funding, brand building, merchandising and buyer positioning, while Visit Qatar, in partnership with the Picasso Institute, will present influencer talks and jewellery masterclasses.

DJWE opened on September 28 from 4pm to 10pm and will welcome visitors on weekdays from noon to 10pm and on Friday from 3pm to 10pm.

Over more than two decades, DJWE has developed into a major B2B and B2C platform connecting international and regional brands, Qatari designers and industry professionals with audiences from Qatar and beyond.
