NHRC attends Arab conference on rights

Cairo: Director of Legal Affairs at the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) H E Nasser Marzouq Al Marri stressed the important role played by national human rights institutions in helping societies overcome crises threats and impacts with the least possible damage to human rights.

 Al Marri, who represented the NHRC, reviewed the working paper that he presented during the 4th high-ranking Arab regional conference on the protection and promotion of human rights. The conference was held at The Secretariat General of the Arab League under the title of “the impact of crises on human rights enjoyment: COVID-19 pandemic as a model”. The working paper showed the effective role played by NHRC in managing the COVID-19 pandemic in the State of Qatar through its swift response to the crise by setting-up mechanisms to mitigate its impacts such as receiving petitions remotely, developing mechanisms to respond to complaints during the pandemic and quarantine, and welcoming all aspects of local and international cooperation to limit the impacts of COVID-19.

Al Marri highlighted the role of NHRC and its contribution in strengthening human rights while facing the COVID-19 pandemic.
