Doha: Qatar Exchange ended in the red area yesterday when trading closed at 12,696.24 points, down 164.10 points, or 1.28 percent, from the previous closing of 12,860.34 points.
The volume of shares was up to 37,103,559 from Sunday’s 28,781,716 and the value of shares increased to QR1,347,452,326.19 from QR1,062,769,738.64.
Among the top losers were Industries Qatar whose share was down 2.98 percent to QR179, Doha Bank lost 2.71 percent to QR64.70, Doha Insurance fell 7.25 percent to QR24.30 and Mazaya Qatar decreased by 4.12 percent to QR19.09. Most markets in the Gulf also declined yesterday as retail investors booked profits after strong gains lifted those bourses to multi-year peaks earlier this month. Dubai’s bourse slid 0.8 percent. In Abu Dhabi, the index slipped 1.2 percent.
