Pakistan Education Centre (PEC) recently had its annual Sports Day, with all the four wings of the school taking part. The events were held at the school’s football ground, starting with a red carpet welcome accorded to the chief guest, Muhammad Sarfraz Ahmad Khanzada, the Ambassador of Pakistan to Qatar and Chairman, Board of Governers, PEC, and other dignitaries, including Farzana Khanzada, members of the board, Wing Cdr. (Retired) Mushtaq Amad, Muhammad Khan, Atiqur Rehman and Nargis Raza Otho. The principal, vice-principals and teachers warmly received the guests. After a welcome speech by Vice Principal Rana Nasim Ahmad, there was a torch-lighting ceremony, a walk past and a formal oath taking ceremony by the participating athletes.

A welcome song by the KG wing and a display of physical drills by the Girls wing added pep and colour to the morning.

Sports competitions included an inter-house zigzag relay race, a jump and relay race and a wheelbarrow race for the junior wing, and a ring race, flag race and obstacle race for the kindergarten wing.

The most exciting events of the day were a balloon race for the female staff, a tug-of-war by the Boys wing staff and a 100-metre sprint for students’ fathers. The events concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, in which the chief guest presented medals, trophies, prizes and certificates to the winners.

The champion house trophies of the year 2013 were bagged by Iqbal House (Boys wing), Khaula House (Girls wing) and Nishter House (Junior wing).
