Doha: Al Rayyan yesterday defeated Al Ahli 2-0 in their Ooredoo Cup Round 7 match (Group A) played at Al Khor Stadium.

With the win yesterday, Al Rayyan now have a tally of 6 points while Al Ahli remained pegged at 6 points.

Yohan Boli (13th minute) and Yacine Brahimi (46th minute) scored for Al Rayyan in the Round 7 clash.

Al Rayyan started the match on an aggressive note and managed to get the goal breakthrough in the 13th minute through Ivory Coast international Boli after he received a cross inside the penalty area.

Boli, without wasting time and space, opted to shoot into the far corner to the left of Al Ahli goalkeeper Yazan Naim.

Al Ahli responded with their own series of attacks but Al Rayyan exhibited better control at the backline.

Early in the second half, Brahimi managed to add the second goal for his team in the 46th minute.

Facing a 2-0 deficit, Al Ahli players tried to apply pressure on Al Rayyan players. However, Laurent Blanc’s side remained steady at the backline and picked up three points from the match.
At Al Wakrah Stadium, the hosts beat Al Shamal 2-0 with the help of a brace from Ismail Mahmoud  (30th and 49th minutes).

Al Wakrah now have a tally of 15 points from 5 victories and one loss. On the other hand, Al Shamal have 5 points from 1 win, 3 losses and 2 draws. Al Wakrah dominated proceedings in the first half when they scored the first goal. Mahmoud gave his team reassurance and confidence throughout the match as Al Shamal could not deter the goal hero. Al Wakrah's first goal saw them gain momentum as the team was able - at the beginning of the second half - to add the second goal through Mahmoud again.
