Qatar’s Ala Riad competing in the 100 metres hurdles final during the 6th GCC Women’s Games in Kuwait City, yesterday. Farid won the silver medal.
Qatari women bagged a rich haul of medals at the 6th GCC Women’s Games which is currently taking place in Kuwait City.
Para-athlete Sarah Hamdi won the gold medal in the discus throw event (Class 33) while her compatriot Mona Al Saadi won the bronze in the 100m event for athletes with special needs.
In athletics, Rima Farid won the silver medal in the long jump while Ala Riad bagged the bronze in the 100m hurdles final.
Maha Ali won the silver in the table tennis singles while Aya Magdi also added a bronze medal to Qatar’s medal tally in the same event.
Table tennis players continued to shine for Qatar as Maha Farmerzi and Aya Magdi won the silver in the women’s doubles. In the same event, Khalloud Abd Al Rida and Maha Ali clinched the bronze as Qatar won the silver medal in the team competition.
Meanwhile, Qatar’s gold medal winning basketball and taekwondo teams arrived at the Hamad Inetrnational Airport where they were welcomed by top officials.
Team Qatar delegation of 132 athletes at the Games is led by Lolwa al Marri, President of Qatar Women’s Sport Committee. Also accompanying are administrators and technical staff members.
