Doha: The ongoing success of the International Paralympic Committee's Athletics World Championships (Doha 2015) is a result of united efforts from the Qatari people who aim to raise the name of their country in all international platforms, HE Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Secretary General Dr. Thani bin Abdulrahman Al Kuwari said.
Speaking exclusively to QNA, Dr. Al Kuwari said the huge success would not have been achieved if it had not been for the unlimited support of the country's wise leadership and the patronage of QOC President Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani who offered and still offers all capacities in order for the tournament to achieve unprecedented global success.
Dr. Al Kuwari, who heads the tournament's organizing committee, expressed his delight and pride that the 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships in its 7th edition is the biggest ever in terms of participation, the most exciting in terms of media coverage, and has witnessed the highest number of broken records.
He added that staging the event reflects Qatar's humanitarian role on all fronts, particularly regarding people with disabilities who deserve more care and attention in their societies and integration in development activities, including the sports field.

The QOC Secretary General said preparations for the tournament were properly done and ahead of schedule as hosting facilities such as training grounds, clinics and wheelchair storage areas were all successfully tested.
The organizing committee also organized several workshops for state centers for people with disabilities in which they were briefed in detail about the championship so that it serves as a source of inspiration for people with disabilities in Qatar and the Middle East.
HE Dr. Al Kuwari urged fans to come to Suhaim bin Hamad Stadium at Qatar Sports Club to enjoy the competitions, noting that a quarter of the ticket sale revenues go to charities in Qatar.
He added that the goal of such tournaments is not only a sporting one but also to encourage society members to participate in the different sporting activities thanks to the positive influence it has on individual health and contribution to the development of society.
