Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and Qatar University have completed preparations for the second edition of the Quran and Human Knowledge Conference and the second Book of the Ummah Forum, bringing together researchers, academics and thinkers from Qatar and abroad on October 5 and 6.
Organised through the Ministry’s Department of Islamic Research and Studies, in cooperation with Qatar University’s College of Sharia and Islamic Studies and Ibn Khaldun Center for Humanities and Social Sciences, the two-day event represents a major joint academic platform linking Quranic studies with contemporary human sciences.
The partnership seeks to advance scholarly research and encourage dialogue on contemporary intellectual, cultural and human issues through an integrated approach that combines Islamic scholarship with modern academic disciplines.
Held under the theme “Towards Sound Human Knowledge”, with the Quranic verse “It guides to that which is most upright”, the Quran and Human Knowledge Conference will examine the role of the Holy Quran in guiding human knowledge and addressing contemporary intellectual and social challenges.
The conference will focus on four main areas: The relationship between the Quran and philosophy, Quranic perspectives on linguistics and language, the relationship between the Quran and law, and Quranic principles related to politics.
Discussions will explore major questions of existence, knowledge and values, the philosophy of language and discourse, principles of justice and human dignity, and concepts including consultation, justice, freedom and responsibility.
The organisers have adopted academic standards for participating research papers, requiring originality, clear research questions and sound methodologies in analysis, documentation and conclusions. Arabic will be the principal language of research, with some papers in English accepted under specified conditions.
Running alongside the conference, the second Book of the Ummah Forum, themed “Book of the Ummah: A Civilisational Project in a Turbulent World,” will examine the intellectual and scholarly contribution of the series over the decades.
The forum will address the series’ role in developing contemporary Islamic discourse, strengthening cultural identity amid globalisation and westernisation, promoting awareness of divine patterns in human life and the universe, and advancing the jurisprudence of priorities and balancing considerations.
Participants will be required to submit specialised research based on in-depth study of the Book of the Ummah series.
