Qatar Airways Cargo, one of the world’s leading international air cargo carriers, has been named ‘Cargo Operator of the Year’ in the 47th annual ATW Airline Industry Achievement Awards.
Aviation Week Network’s Air Transport World (ATW) announced the winners of the awards recently and the winners will be honoured during award function that will be held in Boston, USA, on October 5.
“Cargo saw renewed prominence in 2020, with many airlines focusing on that business as passenger demand slumped,” noted Aviation Week Network about Qatar Airways Cargo.
“Few switched as fast and as innovatively as Qatar Airways, which rapidly ramped up cargo operations for urgent medical supply transport, pushed for faster of digitalization of the air cargo industry and is now involved in wider programs, such as the transport of lions that were in captivity in Ukraine to a wildlife refuge in South Africa,” it added.

Along with Qatar Airways Cargo; US carriers JetBlue and United Airlines, Mexican low-cost carrier Viva Aerobus, Incheon International Airport in Seoul, and Alexandria de Juniac, the former Director General and CEO at the International Air Transport Association (IATA) will be honoured at a gala dinner in Boston on October 5.
The ATW Airline Industry Achievement Awards recognize excellence across a broad range of airline operations and are widely considered as the most coveted in the air transport industry.
The world’s leading air cargo carrier has won many prestigious awards in the past. Throughout the COVID-19 crisis, Qatar Airways Cargo has been helping transport essential medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, perishables and other vital cargo around the world through belly-hold cargo on passenger flights and freighters.
Last month, Qatar Airways Cargo had won ‘Cargo Airline of the Year 2021’ award at the World Air Cargo Awards by the Air Cargo Week. The cargo carrier had also won ‘Air Cargo Industry Achievement 2021’ award. Last year, Qatar Airways Cargo was presented with the ‘International Cargo Airline of the Year’ award by STAT Times.
