Katara on Thursday launched the Katara Cultural Market on Katara Beach. Among the features of the market is a centre for Arabic novels where portraits of famous Arab novelists and a vast collection of their works are displayed. It also has a readers’ club and a cultural café in addition to bookshops for Arabic, foreign and children’s books.
The permanent market also houses shops dedicated to calligraphy, sculpture, antiques, traditional accessories and clothing as well as a photo and fine art gallery. Lectures, symposiums and other related events will be held at the market. Katara Cultural Market is open from 9pm to 1am during the holy month of Ramadan.
