Ministry allots 119 plots to private firms

The Ministry of Economy and Commerce allotted 119 plots of land to private companies through a raffle draw yesterday to build multi-use facilities in logistics areas of Al Wakra, Birkat Al Awamir and Aba Al Salil.
The event was attended by the Minister of Economy and Commerce H E Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim Al Thani, members of the technical committee at Manateq and representatives of private companies.
Priority was given to companies fully owned by Qatari citizens. Showrooms, commercial shops, clinics, banks, restaurants among other facilities will be built on the allotted plots.
The plots of land are of different sizes. The plots measuring from 1,000 to 2,000 sqm number 86. Fifteen plots range between 2,001 and 5,000 sqm. Twelve plots are between 5,001 to 10,000 sqm. Only two plots area measuring 10,001 to 20,000 sqm.
The Ministry is keen to launch initiatives to support a diversified and competitive economy that could serve the coming generation, said the Minister. The move is aimed at activating role of private sector to participate in the development of the country, he added.
