DOHA: Ooredoo yesterday launched a new subscription-based Public IP Key add-on for business customers across Qatar.
The subscription to be available for Shahry and Mobile Broadband customers will make access to businesses field devices using a Public IP address simpler. Public IP is an identification assigned to Internet-connected devices, which can be independently routed across the Internet. Most Mobile Broadband and Mobile Internet connections are made using Private IP addresses. However some solutions, such as remote access security cameras and servers, require a Public IP address.
The new IP subscription has been designed for small businesses that need to remotely access mobile devices and connect to business-critical applications around the clock. The service is available as an add-on for existing plans for QR100 per month, giving businesses Public/Dynamic IP addresses for their devices.
Yousuf Abdulla Al Kubaisi, Chief Operating Officer, Ooredoo, said: “Ooredoo continues to innovate to support the needs and growth plans of our customers. We developed the IP Address service for businesses in response to the needs of local companies looking to access remote devices. We are also making it available for consumers who want to have their own Public IP address.”
Public IP solutions provide mobile access to the public Internet and remote access to the mobile device from any public Internet-connected server. Public IP Key is ideal for remote management, digital media, telemetry systems, fleet management systems, retail point of sales systems, Machine-2-Machine (M2M) and more. With more businesses in Qatar looking to deploy M2M solutions to support their business, Ooredoo continues to enhance its portfolio M2M services, launching a new range of fleet management, smart grid and metering, asset tracking, security and surveillance, and smart healthcare services last year.
