
DOHA: Some 142,645 traffic violations took place in the country last December.
But, the figure was 6.4 percent less than the previous month.
Qatar’s Monthly Statistical Bulletin issued for December gave these figures, though it didn’t outline any details.
The number of vehicle registration also dropped in December over the same month in 2014.
The total number of vehicles registered was 10,317 while in December 2014 it was 10,982, though the country’s population went up 8.3 percent last year.
Hamad International Airport (HIA) witnessed 19,252 aircraft movements in December, up six percent over the previous month.
Aircraft movements include take-off and landing. In November 2015, the movements totalled 18,168.
The bulletin released by the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics cited the details.
It said the December 2015 aircraft movement figure for HIA was a record high.
In December 2014, aircraft movements at HIA totalled 16,703, which were 15.3 percent less than those a year later.
According to the bulletin, the country’s population peaked at more than 2.42 million in December 2015 showing an annual increase of 8.3 percent. In December 2014, the population was a little more than 2.23 million, said the bulletin.
The ministry said the bulletin is released to identify developments and changes in social and economic aspects in the country.
