Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Secretary-General Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain with other Executive Board members of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Olympic Committees during the meeting held in Manama, Bahrain.
Manama: Secretary-General of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain attended the 92nd meeting of the Executive Board of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Olympic Committees held in Manama, Bahrain, yesterday.
The officials discussed several important matters during the meeting, which also decided the postponement of the third Gulf Games due to the spread of Omicron, a mutated version of COVID-19.
The Games to be held in Kuwait were originally scheduled to be held from January 9 to 19. The multi-sport event will now take place from May 11-21.
Matters related to the third GCC Beach Games, fourth GCC Games, seventh GCC Women’s Games and first GCC Youth Games were also discussed during the meeting.
The officials also reviewed the formation of GCC Sports Dispute Resolution Panel and the activities of GCC Sports Organising Committees in addition to several other topics on the meeting agenda.
The meeting was chaired by HRH Prince Fahd bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Vice-President of the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee and Secretary-General of the Committee in the presence of members of the office.
The meeting was also attended by Director of the QOC Sports Affairs Department Khaleel Al Jabir, President of Qatar Women Sports Committee Lulwa Al Marri, and the Director of QOC Public Relations and International Cooperation Department Hamad Al Obaidly.
