Facade of the new fish market in Al Khor
Doha: The Ministry of Municipality has opened a new fish market at Al Khor jetty in Al Khor and Al Zakhira Municipality.
The market houss 20 outlets for selling fish. Two outlets have been dedicated for cleaning fish. It also has a restaurant and cafeteria, shops for selling vegetables and a supermarket.
The new fish market will start operation with full capacity from today (November 27) at 5am. It will be open throughout the week.
All outlets from the old fish market have been shifted to the new one.
The new market was built in accordance with the Gulf standards for displaying fresh fish. This includes central ventilation and lighting of the market, while providing a suitable place for displaying fish in hygienic conditions inside the shops, and providing adequate water sources for cleaning purposes.
The floors are also designed in accordance with health requirements to facilitate cleaning operations.
