Baladna, Qatar’s largest dairy and beverage producer announced yesterday that the company, as part of expanding its portfolio, will introduce 50 new products to the local market within the next two months. Another 50 new products will hit the market later in 2020.

Speaking to the media yesterday, on the sidelines of company’s Consecutive General Assembly, the Board Member Ramez Mhd Ruslan Al Khayyat said the company will receive new shipment of cows from the US in January-February months of 2020 .

“Currently we have a stock of 18,000 and we are expecting nearly 2,500 in two months time,” Ramez said.

As part of expanding its portfolio, Baladna will increase its juice production capacity by three times. Baladna is currently in the local market with 10 different varieties of cheese. It has now plans to introduce more than 20 types.

Early this year, Baladna announced it received a total of 2,275 heifers in the previous shipment.  London Dairy International Farms Ltd of Ontario has supplied over 6,000 Holstein-heifers to Baladna since its first shipment started 2018.

The first batch of cows  arrived on a Qatar Airways cargo flight from Budapest, Hungary, in 2017.

Baladna then said  it will fly in a further 4,000 cows from the Netherlands, Germany, Australia and the US.

Baladna Farm is equipped with state-of-the-art technologies. It has a controlled climate cooling system that enables to control humidity and decrease the temperature inside the barns up to 25 degrees Celsius, compared to the outside ambient temperature. This will help to acclimatise the cows comfortably.

On the company’s expansion plans, Ramez said Baladna, partnering with Malaysia’s Felcra Bhd,  is setting up its maiden dairy production business in that country. With the approval of the Board of Directors, Baladna can double Malaysia’s milk production capacity.
