MANILA: The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) have strengthened collaborative efforts in combating the proliferation of illegal drugs in the country. The close partnership between the PDEA and the NBI was sealed after PDEA Director General Arturo Cacdac Jr paid a courtesy visit to NBI Director Nonnatus Caesar R Rojas on October 24.
The two agencies vowed to deal “decisive and crippling blows to organise local and international drug syndicates in the country.”
“The courtesy visit to the NBI director is my first of a series of visits to counterpart law enforcement agencies. This is consistent with our current operational thrusts to neutralise priority high value targets and quality operations and to advocate a culture of cooperation with all stakeholders,” Cacdac said.
“We need to help one another. What I feel is the need for a holistic approach to counter the drug problem. We need more consultations, coordination and cooperation to find solutions to problems related to drugs,” he added.
As the country’s prime investigative organisation, the NBI lends valuable support to PDEA through cooperation in investigative concerns and by undertaking actual anti-drug operations in support of the supply reduction program.
“The NBI and PDEA will be closely working together to run after and neutralise big time drug syndicates,” Cacdac said.
