SARAJEVO: Forensic experts have found two mass graves in Bosnia, one believed to hide victims from the country’s 1992-1995 war, the other probably dating back from the Second World War, officials said yesterday.
Remains of nine victims, among them a woman, have so far been found in a mass grave in the northeastern region of Osmaci, Lejla Cengic of the Missing Persons Institute of Bosnia-Herzegovina said.
“It is a small, 10-metre wide grave in which the bodies were piled one onto another,” Cengic said. The victims were believed to be Muslim civilians killed in the region in November 1992, Cengic said.
“Some 25 victims could be found at the site,” Cengic said, adding that the excavations would continue.
