Muneer earns Qatar draw against Jamaica in Austria

Doha: Midfielder Khalid Muneer scored a late equaliser as Qatar played out a 1-1 draw against Jamaica in their last match of Four-Nation friendly tournament at the Wiener Neustadt Stadium in Austria yesterday. 

After a goalless first half, Jourdain Fletcher put Jamaica ahead with a goal in 71st minute, with Muneer netting the equaliser in the 84th minute.

Qatar, who moved one place up to 48th in the FIFA Ranking on Thursday, remained unbeaten in the tournament. They drew with Morocco in their first match before defeating Ghana in their second match. 

The Felix Sanchez-coached side took part in the tournament as part of their FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 preparations, which begins on November 20.  

Al Annabi will meet Group A opponents Ecuador in the tournament’s opening game. 

The Asian champions face Senegal on November 25 before their last group match against the Netherlands on November 29.
