Ljubljan: Slovenian international referee Slavko Vincic has called time on his officiating career, one week after working out the 2026 World Cup final between Spain and Argentina.
The Football Association of Slovenia said in a statement the 49-year-old had ended a distinguished career spanning some of the biggest matches in European and international football.
Vincic rounded off his final season by being named the world's top match official by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) for his performances at the 2026 World Cup. He also received Italy's prestigious Giulio Campanati Award.
A member of UEFA's elite refereeing panel since 2019, Vincic officiated at UEFA Euro 2020 and the Euro 2024 semi-final between Spain and Italy.
He also refereed the 2024 UEFA Champions League final between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, as well as the 2022 UEFA Europa League final between Eintracht Frankfurt and Rangers.
