Doha: The Chairman of the General Authority of Customs (GAC), Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Jamal participated in the 138th session of the Customs Cooperation Council, which was held virtually.

The meeting witnessed a discussion of developments related to many customs issues, most notably the project of training and strengthening the capabilities of cadres and competencies. Customs tariff and its impact on several commercial and economic issues were also discussed. 

The Secretariat focused on the main results of the discussions at the 105th Session of the Finance Committee of the World Customs Organization regarding the use of additional languages in the organization’s procedures, and it was agreed to extend the pilot project for one year. The meeting also discussed many topics and issues related to policies, administration, and governance, recommendations of the technical committees on budget and financial affairs, holding periodic elections for the president, deputies, and members of technical committees, and other topics.

These meetings contribute to strengthening cooperation between customs administrations and authorities in all countries. It directly impacts developing and unifying work mechanisms in all customs fields that are consistent with the standards of the World Customs Organization and contributes to facilitating and accelerating the movement of trade between the countries.
