DOHA: Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah, Chairman of The Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah International Foundation for Energy and Sustainable Development, contributed to a question and answer session focused on the topic of ‘Changing Global Gas Markets and the Implications for Qatar’ in the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) monthly lecture series.   The session was chaired by the new GECF Secretary General, Dr Yury Sentyurin.
Al Attiyah said “I fully support the work of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum in the vital role they play to encourage dialogue and research into the use of gas in the global energy mix.  Qatar is well placed to retain its position as the word’s largest producer and supporter of Liquified Natural Gas (LNG).    I believe such forums help all our international stakeholders understand the importance of gas in their future energy mix”.
Dr Yury Sentyurin, President of the GECF said “Al Attiyah played a prominent role in the establishment of the GECF and as its first Chairman contributed to making it what it has become. As Founder and Chairman of the Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah International Foundation for Energy and Sustainable Development, he is still involved in promoting gas as part of the world energy mix.  It is therefore a great honour and privilege for me to welcome him back to the Secretariat as participant in our monthly lecture series.
The lecture, which took place at the Tornado tower, Doha was attended by key influences in the oil and gas industry in Qatar.
The Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) is an international governmental organization which provides the framework for exchanging experience and information among Member Countries.
GECF is a gathering of the world’s leading gas producers and was set up as international governmental organization with the objective to increase the level of coordination and strengthen the collaboration among Member countries.
GECF also seeks to build a mechanism for a more meaningful dialogue between gas producers and gas consumers for the sake of stability and security of supply and demand in global natural gas markets.
