Muscat - The Sultanate of Oman on Wednesday banned all group events, including international conferences, sports events and exhibitions, starting from Thursday until further notice, in a tightening of measures against the COVID-19 pandemic.
The decision was made during a meeting held the countrys Supreme Committee tasked with tackling COVID-19 today to discuss the developments of the coronavirus outbreak.
The committee also postponed students' return to universities and advised citizens and residents against foreign travel, Oman News Agency (ONA) reported.
ONA said the decisions were made due to an increase in COVID-19 cases in the country.
The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Sultanate has reached 133,574, while the number of recoveries stood at 126,486.
