Birla Public School Principal A K Shrivastava (pictured) has been appointed as the Chairman of the Council of CBSE-affiliated Schools in the Gulf for 2013.

He was also Secretary of the Council of CBSE Affiliated Schools in the Gulf for 2012.

Shrivastava is also a recipient of the Nationals Teachers Award for 2007 from the President of India.

The Council of CBSE Affiliated Schools in the Gulf was set up in 1988 on the initiative of people like B K Mohammed Kunni, former Principal of MES Indian School, and others.

It holds its annual conference at different venues in the Gulf or India and this time it was hosted by Indian High School – Dubai and organised by the UAE Chapter.

The council share its expertise among members, discuss common problems, organise joint exams and conduct in-service training programmes for staff of the member schools.

From a small group of 15 schools sharing the platform in 1988, the council today has 130 full-time member schools and three associate members.
