FRANKFURT: German industrial gas giant Linde said on Monday it had won a contract to build a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant in Malaysia.

Linde did not reveal the size of the contract from Malaysia's national oil and gas company Petronas for what it described as a "mid-scale" plant but industry sources said it was worth an estimated 200-300 million euros ($259-389 million).

The new facility will produce up to 1,840 tons of LNG per day and will be located in the Bintulu LNG complex in Sarawak, East Malaysia, Linde said. (AFP)
