Doha: The Department of Maritime Customs at Hamad Port foiled a smuggling attempt of banned tobacco.
In several photos shared on social media, Customs showed that the seized tobacco, which weighed 87kg, was hidden in a shipment of mini ovens.
A few days ago, Customs also seized various kinds of narcotic pills which was stashed in some parts of a car. The contraband found were 44 captagon pills, 9 lyrica pills, and two other narcotic pills.
Customs officers are provided with all means of support including the latest devices and continuous training to read the body language of passengers and to be aware of the latest methods followed by smugglers.
