Battling hard, Japan was able to equalize in the 35’ minute, only to have their hopes dashed when Thailand’s Darika Peanpailun answered back just a minute later. While Japan pressed hard to again tie things up by bringing forward their goalkeeper for a numbers advantage, Jenjira Bubpha was able to lob in a shot from her own side of centre into the open net to seal the deal and ensure Thailand the gold.
