Defending champions Al Sailiya will face football giants Al Sadd and in-form Al Wakrah in the group stage as draw for the Ooredoo Cup was held at the Al Bidda Tower, yesterday.
Ahmed Abdullah Al Sayed, Head of Football Operations at the Qatar Stars League (QSL) also attended the draw ceremony, which saw Al Ahli and Qatar SC forming Group A along with Al Sailiya, Al Sadd, Al Wakrah and Umm Salal.
The Group B includes Al Duhail, Al Arabi, Al Gharafa, Al Rayyan, Al Shamal and Al Markhiya.
Tournament’s title sponsor Ooredoo’s representatives Nasser Al Khaiat, Manager of Business Campaigns and Hassan Al Ali (Manager of Creative Studio) was also present.
The QSL said the tournament schedule will be released later.
In March, Al Sailiya pulled off a thrilling 5-4 victory over Al Wakrah in extra-time to retain their Ooredoo Cup title at the Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium.
The 2022-2023 edition will also mark the return of Al Sadd and Al Duhail, who skipped the previous edition due to players’ commitment with the Qatar national team.
