Doha: LG Electronics, a global leader and technology innovator in consumer electronics, has officially launched its premium OLED TV series and Super UHD TV range in Qatar.
The launch in association with Video Home & Electronic Centre, LG’s local distributor, marks the debut of LG’s latest TV range in GCC.
The LG premium TV line-up showcase includes LG E6, EG97, UH95, UH85 and UH77 ranging from 55-inch to 86-inch, known for its premium design, and most importantly, the support of multi HDR solutions – HDR10 and Dolby Vision.
LG’s 2016 OLED TVs belong to the brand’s exclusive line-up of TVs that support HDR formats classified as industry-standard – HDR10 backed by Ultra HD Alliance’s (UHDA) (which is an open format) and Dolby Vision, which has been adopted by major studios and providers and has received global recognition.
Yong Geun Choi, President, LG Electronics Gulf, said, “LG has been constantly focusing on raising awareness about OLED TVs, fostering substantial market potential for the latest TV format. Globally and regionally, this has resulted in a positive impact on the sales of OLED. Qatar is a key market for us as local consumers are very tech-savvy and contribute to the evolving market landscape. We are proud to mark the GCC debut of the latest OLED series in Qatar with Video Home & Electronic Centre and drive to make OLED the market standard.”
According to reports and scientific studies, OLED — Organic Light Emitting Diode — delivers the best-looking picture of any TV display. It has the ability to turn each individual pixel on or off, making backlighting unnecessary and allowing TV to display perfect black and an infinite contrast.
Coined as a revolutionary new technology, OLED allows for TVs to display true black in a way other TV technologies today can’t. With this precision, OLED TVs can render crisp, nuanced images down to the most precise details. OLED’s deep black serves as the perfect backdrop for rendering vibrant colours without light noise interfering with the picture.
Beyond compatibility, OLED TVs offer a nuanced HDR experience, rendering deeper, more detailed darks and brighter highlights. This versatility makes OLED HDR experience more complete.
LG’s Ultra Luminance technology enhances contrast between dark and bright areas, delivering vivid HDR images while contrast maximiser offers additional depth and contrast by separating objects from their backgrounds.
With 10-bit panels and 10-bit processing power, OLED TVs can render over 1bn possible colour variations — another reason Academy Award-winning directors are recognising the power of LG OLED TV, noting that nothing can compare to the technology when it comes to accurately portraying the original cinematic intent.
Along with a wider colour gamut, LG OLED TVs can display the finest details of colour and gradation. OLED’s incomparable picture quality holds up even from wide viewing angles so everyone can appreciate its colour and clarity from any seat in the house. The same cannot be said for most LCD TVs, which suffer from colour washout and lower contrast off-axis.
“LG’s pioneering spirit in TV design can be seen in how thoroughly the company has dominated the emerging OLED market. The OLED TV line-up delivers stunning picture quality alongside the company’s patented perfect black image rendering technology, improved brightness and an expanded colour spectrum, all in innovative, slim designs. As the only TV manufacturer to meet UHDA’s HDR10 and Dolby Vision HDR standards, LG is paving the way for a more innovative, immersive and experiential TV viewing experience in the coming years. We are excited to partner with LG and make these latest innovations available for consumers in Qatar,” said C V Rappai, Director and CEO, Video Home and Electronic Centre.
LG’s technological advancements in OLED technology is promising with the potential it has created by expanding the market share in the premium TV market. LG plans to triple OLED TV sales while it doubles its UHD TV global market share. Research firm IHS estimates that the size of the UHD TV market would expand by up to 150 percent by 2016-end, while the OLED TV market volume would triple during the year.
The latest LG OLED TV models will be available at all leading electronic retail stores in Qatar from next week.
