In Arab Summit, Emir stresses joint Arab action to meet people’s aspirations

Nouakchott: Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani yesterday took part, along with leaders of Arab countries, in the opening session of the meetings of the 27th session of Arab League Council at the summit level, in Nouakchott, capital of Mauritania.

The Emir’s delegation and those of several other Arab countries and guests attended the opening session of the summit held under the theme ‘Summit of Hope’.
Earlier, the Emir arrived at Nouakchott International Airport.
The Emir and his delegation were welcomed by Mauritanian Prime Minister Yahya Ould Hademine, Minister of Justice Ibrahim Ould Dada, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Isselkou Ould Ahmed Izidbih, Interior Minister Ahmedou Ould-Abdallah, Minister of Energy Salem Ould Al Bashir, Qatari Ambassador to Mauritania Abdulrahman bin Ali Al Kubaisi, Mauritania’s Ambassador to Qatar Sidi Ould Mohamed Laghdaf and members of the Qatari Embassy.

The Emir made the following statement: “I am pleased upon arrival in Nouakchott to take part in the 27th Summit of Arab League, to extend my sincere greetings and the greetings of the Qatari people to my dear brother H E President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, and the brotherly people of Mauritania, wishing them continuous progress and prosperity.
“I would also like to salute my brothers the leaders of Arab countries participating in the summit taking place at a time when our nation is exposed to dramatic challenges that require all of us to exert further efforts to meet them.
The Emir hoped that “the summit’s outcomes would contribute to supporting and enhancing  joint Arab action to achieve the aspirations of our peoples. I ask the Almighty Allah to help us all for the good of our peoples and pride of our nation.”
The Emir left Mauritania in the afternoon.
The Emir and his delegation were seen off at Nouakchott International Airport by Mauritanian Prime Minister Yahya Ould Hademine and Qatari Ambassador to Mauritania Abdulrahman bin Ali Al Kubaisi.
The Emir sent a cable to President Abdel Aziz, expressing gratitude and appreciation for the warm reception and hospitality H H and his delegation received during participation in the summit and said its outcomes would contribute to enhancing Arab solidarity and supporting joint Arab action to meet challenges faced by the Arab nation and achieve the aspirations of our peoples.
The Emir also expressed best wishes of good health, happiness and continued success for the President and further progress and prosperity for the brotherly Mauritanian people.
The Emir headed to Colombia on an official three-day visit, before heading to Argentina on an official visit. The Emir will discuss with Colombia’s President Juan Manuel Santos and Argentina’s   President Mauricio Macri relations between Qatar and their countries, means of enhancing them and issues of common concern. Several agreements and memorandums of understanding between Qatar and both countries will also be signed.
