Doha: Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) honoured outstanding students and educators and mothers who supported their success.
The ceremony was part of QRC’s QR80,000 social mother and child events during Ramadan that identified students who have received high marks in all educational levels, in cooperation with schools, to honour them as well as their parents and teachers for their efforts and as an incentive for them to pursue academic and professional excellence.
Hanadi Al Moallem, Head, Empowerment and Social Development Department, QRC, said QRC has for years hailed outstanding students to encourage them achieve further progress and become an example for their peers.
“Looking for the better, we developed the programme to cover more groups that deserve appreciation — mothers, educators and students with special needs who challenge their physical limitations to shape their future,” she said.
She honoured 80 outstanding students and seven mothers and educators who contributed to their success.
A man, who had five of his children honoured, said he had many children in primary education through university. He praised QRC efforts to support these success stories, which were the product of common work from the home and the school to shape students’ personality.
The ‘Outstanding Students’ is one of QRC’s social and cultural programmes during Ramadan, including ‘Recite and Ascend’ for children who memorise the Holy Quran, ‘This is My Wish’ to fulfil wishes of children at hospitals, and ‘Cordiality Iftar’ to share people at hospitals Iftar and support them psychologically in line with its mission of helping special social groups such as patients, mothers and children in pursuit of the human development as part of Qatar National Vision 2030.
