Doha: Qatar News Agency (QNA) launched yesterday its new logo at  a ceremony  held at  the Ritz-Carlton Hotel and was attended by  a number of  officials and  prominent personalities in the media field.

The launch commemorates the 32nd anniversary  of QNA which was established in 1975.

QNA Director General Ahmed Saad Al Buainain underlined  that the agency had managed to adjust to the great challenges posed on media outlets in the past decades, particularly those relating to the development of new media, in addition to the shift interests of the public opinion.

He added that QNA was always committed to promote  media practice based on professionalism, responsibility and transparency.

Al Buainain gave an overview of the agency’s work since 2009, when an Emiri  decree  was issued to regulate QNA’s work. The decree focused on enhancing the technological facilities in order to provide more its news services to its regional and international partners. He noted that the agency produced 2,356,000 news items in the past few years, 320,000 of which were local news.

He expressed his thanks to  the pioneers who worked tirelessly to help the agency reach the high-status it now occupies.
