Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Qatar Society for Rehabilitation of Special Needs
Doha: Qatar Society for Rehabilitation of Special Needs (QSRSN) has launched a Ramadan cultural competition for persons with disabilities.
The competition for this year is writing an article on one of the four topics — personalities with special needs who played a prominent role in early Islam; the benefits of fasting on human health; the educational aspect of fasting for children; and the importance of fasting in the harmony of society.
Participants must be QSRSN members, while participation is also open to all nationalities and age groups, provided that the article does not exceed two pages (A 4 size) and font size 15. The article must be written in classical Arabic and free from spelling and linguistic errors.
Persons with disabilities should write the article themselves, and the write-up must not have appeared in any publication. All entries should be submitted by the end of Ramadan.
Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani, Chairman of the Board of Directors, QSRSN, announced that the society has allocated valuable cash prizes for the first six winners.
Sheikh Thani explained that the competition is part of the society’s objectives to rehabilitate persons with disabilities, explore their talents, abilities, and creativity to society, and involve them in community activities, which will achieve a happy and safe life for them in the community.
He added that the competition aims to explore the creative energies of people with disabilities and show their talents in the art of writing.
Sheikh Thani said that the audience would be surprised by the quality of work from the participants because of the untapped high-end creativity that many people with disabilities have, especially in artistic, creative, and literary fields.
He emphasised that society strives to explore and refine these skills through training, qualification, and organizing competitions in various artistic and creative fields under the supervision of specialists.
Sheikh Thani called on all segments of society and parents to support persons with disabilities as their right and duty and encourage them to be innovative and excellent in all fields.
