Doha: Wellcare Pharmacies, in partnership with the Blood Donation Unit at Hamad Medical Corporation, conducted a blood donation campaign. Hundreds of Wellcare Pharmacy Group staff donated blood to increase stocks at HMC Blood Bank and awareness about the importance of blood donation.
The campaign was held in the vicinity of Wellcare Pharmacy 24 hours on Airport Road from dusk to dawn. Vehicles from Blood Donation Unit and volunteers from the Group helped participants donate blood. Refreshments were provided for all involved.
In a statement, Ashraf K P, Managing Director of the Group, said such events would continue and commitment to society would be fortified with stronger social activities.
He said all business and social activities of the Group would live up to its tagline: ‘The care you can trust’.
Mukhtar, Chairman of the Group, said the Group is making strides to meet the high standards of healthcare practice as envisioned by the Emir and all possible avenues of upgrade are being used to meet world-class standards set by the Ministry of Public Health.
The pharmacy is one of its kind in Doha. It was reopened by Dr Bridget Javed, Associate Professor, Clinical Practice, College of Pharmacy, Qatar University; Dr Norman Wong, Lead Instructor, Pharmacy Department, CNA-Q; and Mohamed Ali, In-charge, Blood Donation Campaign, HMC. Leaders from pharmaceuticals and healthcare industry from Qatar and international markets were present.
The pharmacy has customer and patient friendly structured consoles; and areas for counselling as per the futuristic vision of community pharmacy practice in Qatar. Special areas for addressing the needs of the elderly, mother and baby care, nutraceuticals, cosmetics, surgicals and orthopaedic support, have also been provided.
A new branch of Wellcare Pharmacy was also opened in Ansar Gallery on Industrial Area Road by Fathi, General Manager of the gallery.
