Ambassador of Kenya to Qatar has written to all Kenyans within Qatar to follow closely the guidelines issued by the Qatari Government and urged all to “continue giving moral and spiritual support to your fellow citizens as we strive to fight and overcome the pandemic.”

Dear Kenyans,
I send you warm and heartfelt greetings from the Embassy in Doha Qatar. It’s our sincere hope that you are fairing well, safe and staying at home under the current Global Health crisis that has engulfed the world over, Kenya included.
Coronavirus (Covid 19) pandemic has continued to ravage the world and has become a Global Health concern. Nothing since the Second World War has there been such a global concern as this. Almost all countries of the world Kenya included and thousands of people have fallen sick and many deaths have been reported in almost all corners of the globe.
Here in Qatar and in Kenya, the Governments have instituted drastic measures to deal with the situation and we are sure most of you have been following almost on a daily basis the goings-on both in Qatar and in Kenya. It’s our sincere hope that these measures will combat any further spread of the virus. We must admit that the Qatari Government and competent authority has put in place all that is humanly possible to combat the spread of the virus. It is in this regard that we appeal to all Kenyans community within Qatar to follow closely the guidelines issued by the Qatari Government competent Authority and I urge you all my dear fellow Kenyans to continue giving moral and spiritual support to your fellow citizens as we strive to fight and overcome the pandemic.
Please let me assure you that the Qatari Government is cognizant of the role you play by supplying efficient and professional Labour force that is much needed in Qatar. Qatar Government and it’s citizenry are very proud of Kenyan Labour workforce and will stop at doing nothing individually, collectively or through our Embassy to ensure that all Kenyans are safe.
May I take this early opportunity to sincerely thank the Qatari Government and our Government for the tireless efforts they have put in combating the spread of the virus.
Both the Qatari Government and the Kenyan Government have recommended a number of measures to combat the pandemic. Some of these measures are :
* Practice and maintain social distancing
* Closure of places of worship and social venues
* Cancellation of conferences and meetings
* Closure of schools Colleges and universities
* Emphasis on high standards of hygiene by washing hands with soap. Please allow me to add here that washing hand with soap is no longer a hygiene issue but is a mode of treatment for the pandemic
* Recommending that people work from home
* Emphasis that people stay at home unless emergency purposes only
* No visit to hospitals and clinics unless emergencies only
*No travel during this period.
In view of the above, I urge you all fellow Kenyans to remain calm and continue giving moral support to your fellow Kenyans and colleagues and strictly comply with the host Government’s instructions and measures especially the advice to remain home. The Embassy is alert and monitoring any developments and will keep you updated through your community leaders on any new developments both in Qatar and in Kenya
